May 22 May 2014 , Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe will host it’s second annual unique “friendraising” event inside the Truckee Tahoe Airport’s new terminal building from 5-6:30 pm meet Bigs, Littles and local pilots and tour their airplanes and get a treat from Super Swirl, ice cream truck that will be on location.  6 to 8 p.m wine, appetizers courtesy of Lahontan and here what BBBS is doing in the community.

Nicknamed “The Sky’s the Limit” friendraiser – the event will bring together local and regional artists, winemakers, chefs and pilots, along with invited members of the local community, to showcase the mission of this important local youth mentoring agency.

Guests will be able to enjoy appetizers while sampling great wines and browsing through the Truckee Tahoe Airport’s new terminal building, which will be decorated with paintings and photography by local artists. Local pilots and aircraft owners will also be on hand offering tours of their private aircraft and even the chance to take scenic tours of the region.

All participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the local programs and results of Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Truckee-Tahoe region, and how our mentoring support provides at-risk youth the opportunity to soar to new heights.

As the only local non-profit agency in the region supporting one-on-one mentoring relationships for at-risk youth in the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe communities, Big Brothers Big Sisters plays a vital role in ensuring that all of our region’s children have access to the things that make this community such a desirable place to live.

Community members who have not yet seen the new Truckee Tahoe Airport terminal will be blown away to discover this beautiful new community resource. Completed in April 2012, the new terminal building incorporates floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the airport’s runways and the Martis Valley, as well as a number of innovative green-building design details.
