Miles for Mentoring bicycle challenge September  9, 2018…

2018 10th Annual…donate today, support the riders and 100% of proceeds benefit BBBS.

By Founder Hardy Bullock-The idea started ten years ago when we would ride our bikes from the Pacific Ocean to Truckee in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County. As a father of two I had a sense of obligation to lend a hand in raising kids who needed just a bit more help to get by. Before I started working with BBBS I didn’t know any littles — a name given to children involved in the project — or any bigs, for that matter. I had no idea how many kids in my community were just on the program’s waitlist or how difficult it is to find funds to pay for programs that help children. Girls and boys alike benefit from the support and guidance of an adult mentor and that is what BBBS does; it pairs children with a positive role model who teaches their littles to be part of the community, to be part of a solution, to love others, and, most importantly, to be loved themselves.

Route: Jackson Meadows turn off. We will end the ride at Edwards Crossing on the South Yuba 7 miles out of Nevada City.
Times: 8am Saturday

This ride is epic. From the top of the Sierra at Jackson Meadows down to the historic town of Allegany. A semi ghost town in the middle of the gold country where we will eat lunch. Great downhill and some climbs lead us to the middle yuba swimming hole. After a refreshing swim we climb up to North Columbia and the little country store then across the high ridges of Bloomfield named for the flowers and grass that abound there.  Next we descend down to the South Yuba to complete the ride. Covering the crest of the Sierra along some scenic rivers and through some old gold country towns the ride time is estimated at 7 hours. Again it is not a race but instead a ride. Individual pace is honored while we meet up every so often at the SAG.

This year’s Team: Hardy Bullock….previous riders , Scott Hanson, Carey Thrasher, Terry Wilson, Scott Hansen, Mark and Ethan Hockridge, Chris Berry, Bill Swartz, and Paul Raymore.

The TahoeStaff team is back again for the 10th year and planning another epic ride in support of our the children in our mentoring programs in September.

On September 9, 2018 organizers original founder of the ride Hardy Bullock will set out with friends and supporters to once again  ride miles of gravel while raising money in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ programs in Truckee and North Lake Tahoe. “We want the community to be able to join us in this amazing experience in riding bicycles for a purpose. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe works so hard to support the youth in this community, why not get more people to participate and change lives.” – Hardy Bullock, founder
